Letter #95

Hey Mum and family,

Well sorry the Skype ended at the wrong time yesterday. The internet crashed in the area where I was yesterday and we couldn't get it back until about 6:45. By that time I let Elder Stephenson Skype his family and I thought you wouldn't care much since you will be able to see me in a few months.  I guess this is another one of those times that can teach you patience.

I hope that mum enjoyed her Mother's Day yesterday. I am sure she was treated well and that she wishes it could last the rest of the week. Haha. I have been slow on sending a letter, but it looks like I already wrote a card for you Haha.  I will send a letter to you soon since I always do. Hopefully I don't forget to do it with my old age.

One thing that I can't believe is the length of your email Mum. Because we just talked only a few hours ago. I guess you always have to keep me doing  things like answering loads of questions. haha

We didn't really get any snow it was hail. It melted instantly because it is so wet so I don't know how much we really got. It wasn't enough to say it snowed.  No one was expecting that kind of weather so it was a shock to everyone.  There was also a lot of thunder and lightning which is crazy because that is the first time I have heard thunder since I have been in the UK.
There were too many people that said hi so just tell every single person that you meet that I said hi. That will make it easier for us both, especially you so you don't have to remember everyone. We know how your memory is getting.

I hope that I answered them all. If not I guess I am in big trouble.  I thought that I would share the spiritual thought since we didn't finish it yesterday.

Weekly Thought
So we started in Moroni 10 and we started to read in Verse 3, which states
"Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts."

At the end it says we need to ponder in our hearts how merciful the Lord has been to the children of men since Adam was alive. We need to think of how blessed we are from our Heavenly Father. When we realize how much we are dependent on God then we start to soften our heart and turn to our Heavenly Father. That prepares us to receive answers to any question that we might have.

Verses 4 and 5 read.
"4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."
When we have humbled ourselves then we need to ask God questions that we have. When we ask Him with a sincere heart and with real intent, meaning that we will follow the answer that we receive, then our Heavenly Father will answer us through the power of the Holy Ghost.
In Galations 5: 22 it talks about some of the feelings that the Spirit produces when we our prayers are answered.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

These are some of the things we will feel when the Holy Ghost is speaking to us. These are some of the feelings that we need to be looking for and recognizing in our lives.

I love how it says in verse 23 of Galations 5 that "against such there is no law". This means that there is nothing that can stop the Spirit from doing his work for those who are obedient followers of the Savior Jesus Christ. That gives me so much comfort to know that when we do ask God anything we can know the truth by the power of the Holy Ghost.

I know that we can receive answers to our prayers because I have received many answers in which I am so grateful for. Our Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us. He is there to help us through this life. There are many challenges that we face during this part of the Lords plan, but I know that we are not to walk it alone and we can't walk it alone. We need our Heavenly Fathers help if we are to return to Him one day.

We are dependent on our Father in Heaven and I know that as we come to recognize more how he works with us individually we will find more peace in a life full of chaos.
Thanks for the wonderful Skype yesterday. I hope that you guys have a great week.
Love,
Elder Peterson
